Dayton 12 Inch Titanic Subwoofer
The Titanic 1200 was the first and original Dayton subwoofer in the Titanic
series. At a time when long-excursion subwoofer drivers were rare and
expensive, the Titanic 1200 was the king of its class. Nowadays, the Titanic
1200 no longer leads the industry for excursion and maximum output capabilities.
But, the combination of parameters found in the Titanic 1200 is even more
rare in this "age of boom", making it one of the best subwoofers
at accurately reproducing ultra-low frequency content. This driver is
great for audiophile-quality low bass performance.
The highest-quality parts and materials are still used, including:
Heavy cast aluminum basket
Talc-filled polypropylene cone
Santoprene® rubber surround
Apical® high-temp voice coil former
Premium adhesives
The Titanic 1200 performs at its best in a sealed box of 2.0- 2.5 cu.
ft., yielding a sealed-box F3 of roughly 35 Hz-- unheard-of for an acoustic
suspension design! This design will handle 150-200 watts of clean power
without being overdriven, and is still capable of producing 105 dB at
30 Hz. The low F3 of the design plus the shallow low-frequency roll-off
will produce impressive in-room response, with effective F3's as low as
20 Hz.
This venerable woofer has remained in the Dayton offerings because it
still remains unrivaled at the role of audiophile subwoofer. Give the
Titanic 1200 a try in your audiophile music system, and we are sure you
will still be impressed!
