Bessie Bontrager

Bessie H. (Remmenga) Holman Bontrager, 89, Lincoln, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Born on April 2, 1922, in rural Adams to George & Elizabeth (Gana) Remmenga. Homemaker, Helped her husband’s educational career. Active volunteer in church & community doing mission work, member American Legion Auxiliary.

Survived by children: Robert ‘Bob’ Holman (Nancy) of Champion ; Henrietta Shingleton (Dennis), Laramie, Wyoming; Verda "Vee" Kanada, Waldron, Arkansas; Elizabeth Holman, Snyder, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and brother, George Remmenga, Seward. Preceded in death by husband of 49 years, Vester "Butch" Holman, and husband of 3 ½ years, Eli Bontrager; brothers, Clarence & Ivan Remmenga, and sister, Ethel Holman.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 211 East First Street, Hickman, with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Inurnment will be in Holland Cemetery, Holland.

In lieu of flowers, Bess specifically requested donations be sent to Christ United Methodist Church for Missions, 4530 A Street, Lincoln 68510.
