Drugs, knives and speeding

By Gerry Baksys

A Firth woman was arrested on charges of alleged speeding, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia after a Thursday, January 19, incident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Stacey Nelson, 36, of Firth, was stopped for allegedly going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone just south of Highway 77 and Pioneers Blvd. After being issued the citation for alleged speeding, Nelson allegedly opened her glove box without being prompted and the deputy saw a four and one quarter inch knife. Nelson also allegedly admitted to having marijuana and a pipe in the trunk of her vehicle.

Nelson was cited and released on the charges.
