On the morning of April 18, 2002 three of us (Marsha, Kevin, and Kevin) met up with the intention to ride from Omaha, NE to Mena Arkansas that day. Our plan was to attend the HSTA rally known as 'T-14.' Marsha and I were riding Kawasaki KLR650's and K.I. was riding his Suzuki DR650. 2002_04_18_T-14_0020_troubleshootin.jpg
Not far south of Omaha, on highway 75, K.I.'s DR650 began to run rough, and required some roadside maintenance.

We removed the carburetor, inspected it and made some adjustments. You can see in the picture that the winds were blowing out of the south that day, I'd say they were about 30 knots with gusts to 50.

Despite all our efforts, K.I.'s bike refused to run smoothly, so he had to turn back home while Marsha and I continued south.

On Friday morning, the HSTA group gathered at the McD's in Mena to prepare for a trail ride that Mike Stenger had organized.

Mike gave us a quick briefing in the McD PlayPlace prior to the ride.

Then we headed for the bikes. It looks like Mac had some "adjustments" to make on the way....

This picture was taken on the trail, just after Marsha fell crossing a stream and broke her foot.

The trail winds back through a beautiful wooded section of rural Arkansas.

We had to go around this one...

We probably crossed a couple dozen streams that morning. The creek beds consisted of fairly large rocks, which made the crossings tricky.
