Resulting from a walk-out at the 1961 national convention of The National Federation of the Blind in Kansas City, Missouri, by some members who felt their concerns were falling on deaf ears, another, more civil, organization was formed. Calling themselves The American Council of the Blind, this national membership organization strives to put "people first - causes second" unlike the Federation whose concept is "it's ok to think what you want so long as we tell you what to think."
For your reading enjoyment, I have contributed writings in numerous blindness related periodicals, often times challenging the antics and propagandist rhetoric espoused by NFB. As always, your feedback is welcomed and encouraged. Enjoy!
